Pitney Bowes Signs On as Platinum Sponsor of All-Author Benefit Concert Tour
Thursday 22. April 2010 - Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI) announced today that the East Coast concert tour of the bestselling author rock group Rock Bottom Remainders will be backed by the companys brand. Proceeds from the tour will benefit education and literacy efforts in Haiti and in the cities where the tour will take place.
“Our support of the Rock Bottom Remainders 2010 Wordstock tour is aligned with our mission to focus on education and literacy, critical social issues for many communities across the country,” said Kathleen Ryan Mufson, vice president, Pitney Bowes Foundation. “We are very pleased to be part of this effort, and we salute the community spirit and efforts of this unique and inspiring band.”
This years Rock Bottom Remainders lineup features best selling authors: Dave Barry on lead guitar; Amy Tan on vocals; Mitch Albom on keyboards; Scott Turow on vocals; Greg Iles on lead guitar; Kathi Kamen Goldmark on vocals; James McBride on saxophone; Ridley Pearson on bass; Roy Blount Jr. on vocals; and Sam Barry on Harmonica.
Roger McGuinn, a founding member of the Byrds, will make a special guest appearance with the Rock Bottom Remainders in Washington D.C. Between them, the Remainders have published over 150 books and sold over 150 million books. Their concerts have raised close to $2 million for various charities over the last 18 years.

Presented by the Pearson Foundation, The Rock Bottom Remainders 2010 Wordstock Tour kicks off in Washington on April 20, 2010 with a special event “Besides the Music: a Conversation with the Rock Bottom Remainders,” hosted by veteran newsman Sam Donaldson. The band will perform concerts in Washington D.C. on April 21st, Philadelphia on April 22nd, New York City on April 23rd, and Boston on April 24th.
Proceeds from the concerts in each city will support World Vision, Americas Promise Alliance, and local organizations. In addition, the Pearson Foundation will donate books to local school districts as part of the initiative.
