Wednesday 10. February 2010 - Combining individual designs with a range of print technologies and paper grades proved the winning formula; Free download for iPhone users

The Japanese sales company of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) has won a bronze award for its calendar “(^_^) 365 (o_o) (Hello 365)” at the International Calendar Show 2010. It’s already the fourth award in a row for Heidelberg Japan in this well known contest.

The calendar comprises 365 separate pages – one for each day of the year. It was created in cooperation with the Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA), 365 Japanese designers, six printing companies, one postpress and one paper trading as well as one foil manufacturer.

The panel of judges, made up of experts from Graphischer Klub Stuttgart e.V. and Kodak GmbH Deutschland, praised the calendar, saying: “The calendar shows a good concept and a good technical production. It combines 365 different designs, 15 printing techniques and 11 types of paper to create a unique overall work.”

iPhone users have the opportunity to download the calendar free of charge on their cell phones, enabling them to call up a different design on their display each day. At the same time, users are also given information on each of the designers and can select an image as the display background if they so choose. “The project underlines how high-quality print technologies can be networked with the digital world to create a completely new kind of application,” says a delighted Adriana Nuneva, Head of Global Marketing and Corporate Communications at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.

A total of 8,000 copies of the calendar were printed and sold out already.

The International Calendar Show is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and is one of the leading competitions in Europe’s print and media sector. In total, more than 1,300 calendars from Germany and abroad were entered into the competition.
