X-Rite Announces Out-Of-The-Box ISO 12647-2 and G7 Support for 500 Series Handheld Spectrodensitometers

Monday 14. September 2009 - Models 528 and 530 now pre-loaded with ISO 12647-2 / G7 data sets and digital PANTONE libraries

X-Rite, Incorporated (NASDAQ: XRIT), the world leader in color management, measurement and communication technologies, today announced significant new enhancements to its 500 Series line of handheld spectrodensitometers. As of September 15th 2009, every 528 and 530 model spectrophotometer will ship pre-loaded with ISO 12647-2 and G7 process control standard databases and characterization data.

This new feature offers an out-of-the-box pressroom quality control tool to help printers achieve ISO 12647-2 / G7 compliance on their jobs, and allows them to start working immediately with the knowledge and confidence that all their color measurements will be made according to IS0 12647-2 standards.

The newly enhanced 528 and 530 models will now also come pre-loaded with the digital version of the PANTONE FORMULA GUIDE, Coated. PANTONE FORMULA GUIDE uncoated and matte are available as a free download from www.xrite.com or from the CD included with the new instrument.

500 Series instruments, specifically the 528 and 530 models, have long been the industry standard for pressroom quality control. In addition to the new features outlined above, the 500 series features X-Rite’s ring illumination technology to allow users to make successful measurements, regardless of how their unit is positioned or orientated.

The 500 series will from now on be available in a charcoal gray color to minimize the effects of typical pressroom soiling during daily usage.

“The integration of all the required standards reference data into our advanced 500 Series models will make it much easier for printers to maximize their process control efficiency and achieve ISO 12647-2 compliance using either G7 or PSO methodology. This will allow them to handle every job with the knowledge and confidence that all their color measurements are consistently accurate and made according to industry standards,” comments Christian Benz, X-Rite’s product manager for pressroom solutions.

Existing users of 500 series handhelds (models 528 and 530) will be able to download the ISO 12647-2 / G7 data and the digital PANTONE library from www.xrite.com.

All 500 Series instruments come with X-Rite’s industry-leading three-year warranty.
