TAYLOR BLOXHAM ELIMINATES WASTE WITH PRESSROOM MANAGER
Tuesday 25. August 2009 - Taylor Bloxham, part of the Print People Group, is installing Heidelbergs Pressroom Manager as part of its lean business strategy, in order to ensure a fully integrated workflow.
The system will allow the Leicester-based printers to adopt the fastest and most accurate machine set ups available, as well as harnessing real time production data so that management can make the best possible commercial decisions.
Taylor Bloxham has an expertise in colour-critical work and is focusing on differentiating itself from its competitors with a value proposition that goes beyond print itself. The aim is to address customers specific face to market issues and to offer them the highest quality print that still offers real value for money.
Prepress workflows, Prepress Interface links with the pressroom and spectrophotometric measurement are already in place at Taylor Bloxham. Its print colour management is extremely thorough and it takes a scientific approach to this issue, having invested over £1m in the last ten years in research and development.
Having the control and efficiency that strong workflows bring, Taylor Bloxham believes it can eliminate many of the seven wastes highlighted by Vision in Print: overproduction; inventory; transportation; waiting time; motion (having right consumables in right place etc); over-processing; and defects/spoilage.
Group chief executive Roger Lindop says: “We already have Kodak and Heidelberg front end workflows in place, now we are going further in the pressroom. We have very talented people in our team and we aim to give them the rein and scope to push boundaries.
“Pressroom Manager will enhance our process control and enable us to adopt remote service on press, with the obvious speed and efficiency of repair which that brings, should we ever hit difficulties.”
Lance OConnell, business manager for Prinect and CtP at Heidelberg UK says: “Pressroom Manager is the obvious choice for Taylor Bloxham. They already employ excellent control over production in the pressroom but there is still much effort spent collating data manually. Now the presses will be connected live and the data will collate itself. This will not only reduce the efforts made in production but also present the data much quicker, providing management with the info they need in real time.”
Taylor Bloxham serves a base of national and international clients requiring top quality, intelligent print solutions.
