Preston company switches from visible light to thermal CtP
Thursday 20. August 2009 - T Snape & Co is trading in its Prosetter visible light system for a Suprasetter A 75 thermal system which will enable it to run chemistry-free plates and meet the increasing demand for environmentally acceptable print.
The Prosetter it bought at IPEX 2002 has been a workhorse but as the company moves to its second generation CtP device it wanted something even more robust which could provide top quality results.
“We have fared well through the recession largely because we have retained the loyalty of both our contract and ad hoc customers and we have done that by keeping the emphasis on quality and service,” says managing director Dominic Swarbrick.
Heidelbergs home developed Suprasetter is a very popular model and T Snape has purchased its machine through a plates deal, meaning that the company pays off the capital cost of the equipment as it draws off its plates. The company uses about 800 plates a month but this type of financing means repayments can be flexible and mirror usage in any given month.
The Suprasetter will feed the Preston companys all Heidelberg pressroom: a Speedmaster SM 74-2, a Printmaster PM 74-2, a GTO-2 and QM 46-2. The design to delivery business has mainly local clients and produces a range of books, magazines and commercial print.
