Gerresheimer Tubular Glass exhibits its expanded packaging range for the pharma industry in Asia

Tuesday 23. June 2009 - CPhI China, June 23-25, Shanghai

New high-tech plant in Danyang: in addition to vials and ampoules, the Chinese-made product spectrum is enriched by cartridges for injections

In Asian countries Gerresheimer has played an important role for a considerable time as the top specialist for pharmaceu¬tical primary packaging and drug delivery. This year at CPhI China in Shanghai its Tubular Glass Division shows itself to be more competitive than ever: the Chinese subsidiary Gerresheimer Shuangfeng is staging its presentation for the first time since the commissioning of its new plant in Danyang, which was officially opened just at the end of May. With this globally recognized technology centre the locally manufactured product range achieves a new dimension in high-quality glass packaging (June 23-25, 2009 at the SNIEC/Shanghai New International Expo Center, Booth W2 E15).

In addition to a multi-faceted range of pharmaceutical vials and ampoules made of flint and amber tubular glass the display at CPhI also includes cartridges like those which Gerresheimer has in the past produced only in Europe and America. The latest plant, located just 250 kilometers to the west of Shanghai and working consistently to internationally recognized standards, ideally equips the company in China for this. With an area of 16,000 square meters the state-of-the-art new production site was designed from the start for further capacity expansion says Burkhard Lingenberg, Marketing and Communi¬cation Director for the Gerresheimer Group: “The Chinese market is growing rapidly and imposes increasingly demanding quality requirements. Danyang is furthermore an important strategic base for us, from which we are able to serve the neighboring regions perfectly.”

This means that all the more interest is likely to be aroused by the latest presentation at this trade fair where pharma experts from the national and international pharma & life science industry across the entire Asian area are expected. Attention is likely to be focused not only on the expanded product range of the local plants of Gerresheimer Shuangfeng – now three in number – which have more than 150 production lines, but also on the overarching news from the Tubular Glass network: for example the PharmaPlus concept through which Gerresheimer has again further developed its glass shaping technologies particularly with regard to biopharmaceutics. Or the ready-to-fill all-glass sterile syringes under the RTF trade¬mark, which are now available – with the added features of individual laser coding and multicolor printing.
