M-REALS KEMIART LINERS MAKE ENERGY SAVINGS
Tuesday 02. June 2009 - M-real has exceeded its energy saving target in the production of Kemiart liners, reducing its carbon emissions. Further improvements in Kemiart liners construction provide energy efficiency benefits throughout the packaging value chain. The Kemiart product range consists of Kemiart Graph, Kemiart Lite, Kemiart Ultra and Kemiart Brite.
M-real Kemiart Liners mill saved more than 9% of energy per tonne in its production in 2008, exceeding well in advance the original target of the Energy Efficiency Agreement in Industries to achieve this reduction by 2016, based on the EU directive. On top of that, the mills energy efficiency system (EES) was one of the first certified in Finland in January this year.
Kemiart liners use less energy in corrugating, due to their high heat conductivity. Their consistent quality guarantees a low waste rate in corrugating and printing. Kemiart Lite and Kemiart Ultra are also designed to need less energy for drying during the printing process, with no drying required at all for Kemiart Ultra.
Greater energy efficiency in transportation and retailing can also be achieved by choosing Kemiart liners, as they offer the equivalent strength, stackability and humidity resistance of other coated liners but at a lighter weight. With less weight to carry, less energy is required in transportation; and there is no need for return transportation as the product can be recycled, burnt as biofuel or composted.
High performance Kemiart liners help attract attention at the point of sale and protect the product as well as brand reputation. They are ideal for consumer durables, branded food and beverages, as well as various display and shelf-ready packaging solutions. Kemiart liners are renowned for their quality, consistency and excellent printability in a variety of printing processes.
