Inspiring excursion through the worlds of cosmetics design
Thursday 02. April 2009 - Gerresheimer stages presentation at Cosmopack, April 2-5, 2009 in Bologna/Italy
Fascinating glass – aesthetic plastic: the Groups innovative spectrum shows no gaps
They come from Europe, America or Asia, are made mostly of glass but often also of plastic, sometimes sparkling in vibrant colors, sometimes shimmering in weightless transparency, and casting a spell through a thousand and one shaping and finishing details: the presentation by the Gerresheimer Group at Cosmopack in Bologna in 2009 opens up for the international perfumery and cosmetics industry a limitless variety of attractive primary packaging for the prestige and mass markets. Anyone looking for fresh impetus simply cannot miss the inspiring little world tour in Hall 19 (April 2-5, Stand C41/D42).
The spectrum shows practically no gaps. As an internationally sought-after specialist in designer glass, Gerresheimer serves all the categories of cosmetics with mainly individually conceived flacons, bottles and pots – from perfume to aftershaves and deodorants, from aromatherapy to makeup and skin-care cream. Tailor-made mould construction, feeder coloring and printing are included, as are acid etching and color spraying – and even opaque, generally snow-white opal glass is produced by the Group. In addition, it has now extended its product range into the areas where for practical reasons flexible packaging is preferred: for the large markets of shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, etc., it offers a comprehensive and equally attractive plastic range. “We are today without doubt one of the most multifaceted partners for the cosmetics and personal.-care world,” says Burkhard Lingenberg, Director of Marketing and Communication for the Gerres¬heimer Group.
Above all it is the love of design which is reflected in the Gerresheimer showcases through the widely varied product personalities. A perfect example is ‘Mexx Black’ from P&G Prestige Beauté, where deepest black floats on clear glass: the vertical grada¬tion from black to colorlessness gives the simple rectangular shape a particularly exciting allure – below the haze effect thus created the delicate salmon tone of the feminine perfume or the fine blue grey of the masculine variant becomes visible. The wide range of varia¬tion possibilities in apparently simple rectangular shapes is amazing: ‘Passenger’ for example is opulently clad in white or black leather reminiscent of the luxury suitcases under its aristocratic umbrella brand S.T. Dupont – while, with ‘Esprit Connect’, clear glass flacons printed on the reverse whisper their message through the fragrant contents.
Far removed from basic geometric shapes, Sheyda with its intoxi¬cat¬ing interplay between form and color celebrates a range of absolute contrasts. Three fairytale variants from the house of Yves de Sistelle lull us here into dreams of transparent rose, blue or violet – simply a question of fantasy whether the little glass flacons are identified as a precious droplet, an exotic flower bulb or an oriental gown. Very specific quality ideas are suggested by another dreamy beauty from the Gerresheimer collection which gleams as a real gem in glass design for personal care products: the container for Absolue Nuit from Lancôme really looks as if it were made of pure gold – the slim glass pipette bottle for the high-quality concentrate is coated all round in a special high-gloss metallic lacquer.
Plastic bottles also have a high degree of aesthetic appeal in the metallic look – which also provides perfect protection against the effect of light. An outstanding example is the sporty sunscreen lotion from Biotherm homme: a discreetly shimmering matt-silver coating printed in white and powerful orange makes the slim bottle look strikingly fresh and soigné. Gentle care for face cleaning is given a very harmonious getup by Gerresheimer for a new makeup range from Dr. Pierre Ricaud: pastel theme colors distinguish the individual products from each other – the very delicate impression created by the printed surface in blue, linden green or rose is repeated as a soft hint of color in the milky tinted body of the flacon.
In contrast, attractive glimpses of the contents are allowed by the new Aquamondi Maroc Shower Gel from Daniel Jouvance. Silk screen printing makes the pale salmon and blue tones appear like a fine label on the clear glass body of the flacon – with little star contours printed in filigree detail giving the impression of an even finer shroud of foam. With Rene Furterer’s latest feast for the eye in full-color vibrant orange, transparently gleaming lemon yellow and fruity lime green we happily return once more at the end of this little excursion to a summer theme – this time with the focus on hair care: first of all because the super slim little bottles for the new Furterer series which protects the hair against sun, sea and swimming-pool water look so delicious and secondly because, after last winter, everyone will be hungry for the next beautiful summer.
