Prestige Print bucks the trend and doubles print capacity
Friday 27. March 2009 - Prestige Print in Birmingham has this week installed an additional press to double its capacity and meet growing demand.
A print factor turned manufacturer, Prestige Print started printing in-house with a QM 46 six years ago, moved quickly to a SM 52-2 and three years ago bought its first B3 five-colour press from Heidelberg.
Now it is adding the latest Prinect Print Center version Speedmaster SM 52-5 which will enable it to meet the demand for brochures, leaflets, flyers and catalogues from its designer, agency and end user clients nationwide.
“Manufacturing is much better than print factoring,” says managing director Paul Massam. “I said Id never go into manufacturing but when I saw the control, cost benefits etc I started printing. However, the factoring background is an advantage in that we understand customer needs in depth and our investment is customer-focused.
“We looked at Ryobi out of curiosity and it was cheaper but our experience with the first five-colour was so good and taking into consideration service and residual values we felt that Heidelberg provided the better deal.”
The company has also just installed a Stahlfolder Ti 52 buckle model, replacing an older machine, and this is deemed powerful enough to cope with the increased print output.
