Texas City Operations Announces New Site Leader

Monday 23. February 2009 - Charles Jackson, vice president of operations and site leader for Texas City Operations, has announced his plans to retire May 31. He is also business manufacturing leader (BML) for Solvents and Intermediates (S&I) and for Vinyl Acetate Monomers (VAM).

During his 34-year career at Dow, Jackson has provided outstanding leadership in roles across businesses and functions, starting as chemist for Louisiana Operations research and development, and then proceeding to production supervisor for Brine Production, plant superintendent for Caustic I and Glycols, global Environmental Health & Safety for Propylene Oxide/Propylene Glycol, and BML for the Biocides and Dow Portfolio Optimization/Heat Transfer Fluids Deicers businesses.

He is a member of: Board of Directors Texas City/La Marque Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors La Marque Independent School District Education Foundation, and Board of Directors, Galveston County Economic Development Alliance. Jackson and his wife Rita plan to stay in the Houston area.

“I am extremely proud of my 34 year tenure with Dow,” said Jackson. “My greatest achievements have been made right here in Texas City over the past seven years. Developing strong relationships and engaging with people, both at the site and in this great community, has been the key to my success and the highlight of my career.”

Harry Engelhardt, business manufacturing leader for Dow Water Solutions, operations director for Specialty Polymers and site director for FilmTec, has been named to replace Jackson as site leader for Texas City. He will also assume BML responsibility for Glycol Ethers, S&I, and VAM.

“It is a great privilege to succeed Charles as site leader for Texas City Operations,” said Engelhardt. “I look forward and am committed to continuing their strong tradition of success as a plant and in the community.”
