Presteligence Releases NewsXtreme 2.5

Friday 03. October 2008 - Presteligence released version 2.5 of NewsXtreme this week with upgrades at Herald-Palladium (St. Joseph, MI) and The Repository (Canton, OH).

The new release features both behind the scene and user interface enhancements.

The new production view, which can be filtered based on security access and user preferences, offers color coded status tracking of pages, plates, and ads. A special approval view displays only those pages or plates that need proofed before being imaged. In addition, unforeseen scheduling changes can now be made directly from the production viewer.

The newly tabbed-style menus in the plate configuration and product scheduling wizards make template editing even easier and faster along with customized control of margins, gutters, and default dinky placement. Derived directly from customer feedback, these newly added elements significantly enhance a user’s experience with the software. 64-bit processing support was also added to take advantage of the latest in computer hardware technology and built-in database management which further simplifies IT administration.

With the recent move of many newspapers to e-tearsheet and e-paper services, such as Presteligence’s Adinfinitum and My News…On the Go, customers can use a new module of NewsXtreme which automatically produces and transmits reduced-file size, Web-ready PDFs to ASPs. The Repository will take advantage of this module as they implement Adinfinitum to their advertising clients. The Repository has also deployed Presteligence’s ink optimization software, Ink-Miser, which they ran in full production after the upgrade to 2.5. The Repository projects a monthly ink savings between $3,000-$4,000 using Ink-Miser.

Behind the scenes, the system now logs all actions on files by user, like who accepts/rejects or changes priorities. Presteligence also built-in even more flexibility to NewsXtreme to offer customized, scalable solutions to newspapers of all sizes. Special bundle packages are available through the SLP Alliance for newspapers staying with film or moving to CTP.

Upgrades to NewsXtreme 2.5 will continue within the following weeks to existing Presteligence Customers.
