First Snap2C Application Launched on Springer Mountain Farms Packaging

Thursday 04. September 2008 - Graphic Packaging Snap2C Technology Connects Packaging Power with Mobile Marketing

Graphic Packaging International, Inc., a subsidiary of Graphic Packaging Holding Company (NYSE:GPK), today announced the first commercial application of its Snap2CTM interactive technology for paperboard packaging that innovatively integrates the promotional effectiveness of paperboard billboards with the immediate results of mobile technology.

Graphic Packaging launched its Snap2C technology on packaging developed for Springer Mountain Farms chicken products to enable consumers to conveniently check recipe ingredients while shopping, call a product information hotline, or register to have a Springer Mountain Farms Chicken Cookbook emailed to their home computer.

“By scanning Mobile Tags printed on specially marked Springer Mountain Farms packages, shoppers can link to the Springer Mountain Farms website to review recipes to be sure they have everything needed to cook the meal before leaving the store. With today’s high gas prices and limited time, consumers want new tools to make their shopping trips more productive and reduce the travel required to return for missed items,” said Charles Brignac, marketing manager of retail packaging solutions at Graphic Packaging.

Using Graphic Packaging Snap2C interactive technology and popular camera-equipped cell phones, shoppers can scan on-pack graphic codes to immediately access in-store promotions, or get answers to product questions via this new form of mobile marketing. Consumers can also download product information, assembly instructions, entertainment like songs, videos, or special movie previews as well as participate in sweepstakes entries, loyalty program points or product surveys.

“Packaging has proven its ability to directly influence buying decisions. Using Snap2C enhancements on food, beverage and consumer product packaging is a breakthrough in delivering promotional messages directly to consumers. It creates real-time marketing connections between consumers and products at the point-of-sale in the store and at the point-of-use in the home. This packaging innovation provides a new level of retail convenience that can differentiate brands like Springer Mountain Farms,” Brignac said.
