Océ Flexibility, Quality and Innovation Open Many Opportunities for drupa Attendees
Thursday 29. May 2008 - Océ showcases a broad scope of digital printing solutions at drupa in Hall 6, Stand A44. Océ will focus on four key digital printing segments: publishing, personalization, promotion and technical documentation. In all areas, Océ shows attendees how print production can be managed more cheaply, flexibly and quickly by digital printing.
Fast, Cost-efficient Publishing
Attendees will learn how Océ technology can help launch their digital publishing business. State-of-the-art workflow scenarios show how digital printing has changed the business model at every point in the value chain, as book manufacturers, publishers, retailers and even end users benefit from reduced costs and faster turnaround.
At drupa 2008, Océ is showing five systems and workflows for short-run books, booklets and magazines. The Océ ColorStream 10000 full-color continuous-feed digital press is producing six-page brochures and books. Also, the Océ VarioStream 9720 printer fully automates printing of high quality books in black and white. Complemented by inline finishing and inline feed of the color covers (also digitally printed on the Océ CS650 system), this workflow delivers professionally bound books in one hands-off end-to-end run.
Océ merges high quality color and black and white pages in an automated inline workflow for “Roll Over Gutenberg”. The book combines prints from two digital presses, the black and white Océ VarioPrint 6250 and the full color Océ CS650 Pro system. Océ PRISMAprepare software manages the workflow, which separates the black and white and color sections and routes page data to the right printer and post-print finishing. The systems also team up on a second application, demonstrating flexibility for digital newspaper production on original newsprint; merging color covers and monochrome content pages automatically.
Personalized Full-color Magazines
High-end production of personalized magazines rounds out the Océ publishing applications. Océ co-stages a web-to-print solution with Dutch press agency pressofoon to produce personalized color magazines based on reader-chosen content. Clients go online to read summaries, choose content and order their own magazines for print delivery. The combo of Océ CS650 Pro digital color system and Océ Document Designer Advanced software creates glossy high-end magazines personalized with text and images for each reader.
Full Color TransPromo Communications
The Océ VarioStream 8000 printer demonstrates high-speed personalization of preprinted material, while the Océ JetStream 2200 printer shows its TransPromo printing power. In conjunction with Océ PRISMAproduction workflow software, the Océ JetStream system combines transaction content and promotional messages to create high impact, full color TransPromo documents. The Océ JetStream 2200 system will also print color sections of digital newspapers on newsprint stock – demonstrating that even full-color daily newspapers can be produced cost-effectively in short runs at remote locations or as special editions for hotels and conference centers.
The Latest in Wide Format Solutions
With systems such as the Arizona 250 GT complete with roll-to-roll option, Océ demonstrates unique flexibility, quality and speed in wide and standard-format printing. The Océ Arizona 250 GT digital flatbed printing system showcases its roll-to-roll option. Users can print rolls and simultaneously prepare the next job on the fixed-installation suction table. Using just one system, customers can print signage, displays and banners, posters and backlit signs in superlative quality and at ultra-fast speed. Océ will premier a new technology focused on network printing. Océ Repro Desk Professional workflow software controls an entire workflow of different systems and locations. In addition, customers can submit print jobs directly into the PSP workflow with client tools installed on their own workstations.
Just-in-Time Tech Docs in Color and Black & White
Just-in-time production of operating guides and manuals is now standard procedure. There are no inventory costs, and no costs for pulping outdated material. For large-format technical documentation such as GIS or CAD plans, short print runs make digital printing the only option. Small format stitched A4 technical documentation is produced in color on the Océ CS650 Pro, and in black and white in A5 format with professional-grade binding. Océ PRISMAprepare software drives the workflow.
New Océ ColorWave Technology
At drupa, Océ is launching new Océ CrystalPoint printing technology. The first product based on this new technology is the Océ ColorWave 600 system. Océ CrystalPoint technology changes the way wide format prints are made by combining the best of both toner and inkjet printing. The Océ CrystalPoint process converts color Océ TonerPearls toner into a gel. This toner gel is then jetted and crystallized onto any type of paper, producing crisp, waterfast high quality images with extremely accurate dot placement. With the Océ ColorWave 600 system, customers can print in color and black and white on lower cost, untreated and recycled paper. Most existing color wide format products require specially coated inkjet paper. The Océ ColorWave 600 system also prints an A0 sheet (one square meter) in half a minute, which enables wide format customers to print at least twice as fast as conventional inkjet systems used by competitors. Prints dry instantly so they can be handled immediately.
