7B plus – the Real 7B Format

The ROLAND 900, XXL is convincing with fully-automated plate loading APL and the InlineColorPilot ink measuring and control system.

Monday 02. June 2008 - ROLAND 900, XXL with new inline features

The larger-by-60-millimeters 7B format has successfully moved into the large format market as 7B plus format. At drupa, the ROLAND 900, XXL will present itself with new inline features.

The advantages offered by the 7B plus format of the ROLAND 900, XXL are exemplary of an efficient value creating chain: short makeready times, short production times and decreasing production costs. 1,260 x 1,620 millimeters mean a small plus in sheet format and a solid 20 percent extra in page production compared with the 7B format. 48 instead of 40 A4 pages usable for folded sheet processing can be produced. The user situation shows: book printing as well as packaging and commercial printing customers have invested in a ROLAND 900, XXL.

XXL technology
In its standard version, the ROLAND 900, XXL in 7B plus format processes up to 13,000 sheets/hour printing substrates in thicknesses between 0.10-0.60 millimeters, paper of 0.04-0.60 millimeters or board of 0.10-1.20 millimeters. Inline applications such as the ROLAND InlineObserver and the makeready-time-reducing features QuickChange Color und QuickChange Clamp ensure efficiency, the ROLAND InlineCoater boosts the product value. Ideal for postpress work is the ROLAND InlineSlitter, which optimizes the large-format sheet for finishing work by slitting it.

World premiere: APL
Two groundbreaking features that promise quality and time gains are shown to the public for the first time: the ROLAND 900, XXL presents the fully automatic plate changing system APL (AutomaticPlateLoading). Plate change is carried out without operator assistance. Correct plate position is ensured by automatic plate position control during the loading process.

ROLAND InlineColor Pilot
The second highlight is the implementation of the ROLAND InlineColorPilot. This inline ink density measuring and controlling system, firmly installed in the press after the last printing unit, makes sure of consistent printing quality throughout the run. Besides the plus in quality, the time saving is interesting as well, because it is no longer necessary for the press operator to pull sheets for measuring and controlling. In comparison with other inline ink measuring and controlling systems, the ROLAND InlineColorPilot impresses with its speed and little need for cleaning.
