The Artemis Transat – Fujifilm yacht – day nine
Monday 19. May 2008 - Alex Bennett on the Fujifilm yacht is currently in 6th position in the race. Speaking to Alex earlier, hes not too concerned about this.
He said: “Were right in the thick of it and there is nothing between 3rd and 6th place. At the moment, we have the main sail up and I am sailing at around 7 knots – thats a good speed for Fujifilm in conditions like these. Its a moderate sea – not too rough and not too calm.”
With the boat sailing into the wind, it gives Alex time to keep on top of things, including fixing a connector to the main sail and also getting a couple of hours sleep.
Alex added: “I will be making a tactical decision in the next half an hour about tacking so we can be in the best position possible as we approach the ice gate
and eating some more of my Michelin starred noodles for breakfast of course!”
