Mimaki JV33 wide format printer wins 2008 European Digital Press association award
Thursday 08. May 2008 - In the "Best products of the year 2008" printing engines category the Mimaki JV33 solvent inkjet printer wins the prize for wide format printers (up to 1.6m).
Mimaki Engineering Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and cutting machines for the sign/graphics, textile/apparel and industrial markets, is pleased to announce that its last year introduced large format printer JV33 has been awarded with the EDP award for its performance, speed, innovative technology (e.g. backup ink supply system) and environmentally friendliness.
Following in the footsteps of the revolutionary JV3 series, the JV33 series was created and introduced in September 2007. The JV33 series employs a newly developed high-speed piezo print head enabling it to print at a resolution of up to 1440 dpi with a maximum speed of up to 17.5 sqm/h (540 x 720 dpi). It contains 180 nozzles x 8 lines allowing for highest accuracy in four- and six-colour print modes, with or without white. It also features a 30% higher print speed compared to the JV3 series. Even four point text looks sharp and clear. With its compact design and affordable price, the JV33 series is an attractive option for any shop.
Furthermore, the new JV33 series is equipped with Mimakis UISS (Uninterrupted Ink Supply System). In four-colour mode the system utilises two cartridges per colour – thereby extending uninterrupted and unsupervised printing without operator intervention. As soon as one ink cartridge is used up, another cartridge of the same colour starts its ink supply to the system automatically. The empty cartridges can then be exchanged “on the fly”.
For several applications, such as printing on transparent or opaque media, Mimakis exclusive “White ink Overlay print” can be employed. Simultaneous white and full colour printing results in incomparably bright, vivid and high density prints.
For quicker ink drying the new JV33 series employs a triple stage intelligent heating system. A pre-heater heats up the media before printing. During the print process the second print heater and a third post-heater enables even higher print quality and faster drying time, especially on uncoated media. An optional drying fan is available for shortening the drying process further.
The new JV33 series solvent ink version can further reduce environmental concerns by installing an optional exhaust system. This system consists of exhaust fans that are attached to the front of the machine effectively removing solvent fumes. When more ventilation is needed, exhaust ducts on the back of the machine can be added. Furthermore, in order to achieve a comfortable, odour-less environment, an exhaust curtain, attached to the front of the machine, helps to reduce the fumes.
Besides the solvent version the JV33 series is available as water based model (dye sublimation or aqueous pigment) as well.
