Sign & Digital UK announces comprehensive Adobe workshop

Monday 04. February 2008 - Returning to Sign & Digital UK after a hugely popular year in 2007, is the Adobe Theatre.

The programme is the first of many seminars, workshops and master classes to be announced for the show, which takes place at the Birmingham NEC, on 22nd – 24th April 2007. The theatre repeats on each day of the show, ensuring that whatever day you choose to visit, you wont miss out on what is bound to be a very popular, and highly attended feature.

Terry Steeley of Iridius will be conducting Adobe workshops on a broad range of subjects including Adobe Illustrator CS3, Adobe Photoshop CS3, and Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Professional. While Richard West, from Apple, will be running seminars looking at the benefits and features of running OS X Leopard, the brand new operating system from Apple, and Aperture 1.5, where RAW power meets raw power.

As an indispensable vector graphics tool, Illustrator seamlessly combines powerful productivity features with industry standard drawing tools and professional typographical controls to deliver stunning graphics for print, web, interactive media and mobile designs. In this seminar Terry shares some key techniques that make using Illustrator that little bit simpler.

Meanwhile, within the Photoshop seminar, Terry shows you how to utilise the unmatched creative freedom Photoshop offers through non-destructive filters, precise colour correction, breakthrough compositing capabilities and improved print control with Colour Management, to make printing easier and more predictable.

Terry continues his journey through the Adobe product portfolio with a look at Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Professional. Enabling the one-touch creation of PDF files from Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, as well as scanning documents straight to PDF, or using the Preflight check feature, Acrobat 8.0 delivers a new definition of simplicity. Terry explores these features offering hints and tips throughout, as well as an in-depth look at the new PDF/A and PDF/X standards.

The seminar programme concludes on each day with a truly invaluable ‘Ask Adobe’ session, in which visitors to the show can come and put the experts to the test.

Terry comments: “It has been a very busy year this year as we have seen the launch of not only Adobe Creative Suite 3, but also of an entirely new operating system from Apple; Leopard. Getting these applications to run seamlessly together is becoming easier all the time, however, there are always techniques that can help simplify things further. With these skills-based theatres we hope to impart to the industry some of the skills and techniques that enable these applications to fulfil their potential. It is important to us that these seminars are not simply a walkthrough of new features, rather that they contain some clear and helpful advice that can be clearly applied by those working with these applications day to day.”

Rudi Blackett, show director, comments: “It is hugely important to the show to have the Adobe Theatre running again. Applications from Adobe are widely used software solutions for people working within the industry. To have a skills-based workshop on hand where visitors can come and get hints, tips and helpful advice from true experts, which can then be taken back and applied to their daily work, is an incredibly useful feature to have.”
