Connex is the the Key to Efficient Production

Wednesday 26. February 2025 - At live demos, visitors to our booth will see how Connex ImpoWhiz - which can also be used to impose for Hunkeler systems - can be adapted to their specific requirements and how optical features offer machine operators crucial support during imposition.

In both the two softcover production lines and the all-in-one solution for digital saddle stitching, which Müller Martini and Hunkeler will demonstrate live at the Hunkeler Innovationdays in Lucerne, the Connex workflow system from Müller Martini ensures smooth workflows and a significant reduction in manual interventions.
The end-to-end solution from the roll with an HP Advantage 2200, a Hunkeler Starbook Plowfolder, a Vareo PRO perfect binder, a drying path, an InfiniTrim trimming robot and a sorting line features Connex ImpoWhiz, also used in the digital saddle stitching line consisting of a Hunkeler UW8 unwinder, a Hunkeler CS8 sheeter, a Heidelberg buckle-plate folding unit, a Prinova Digital saddle stitcher and a Perfetto PRO compensating stacker. The variable contents and a variety of covers are imposed with the fully automated pre-press solution from Müller Martini. That means: With barcodes applied for finishing, Connex ImpoWhiz composes and arranges the pages so that each book block is bound in the correct order and fed the right cover.
The printing press never “goes hungry”
“One main benefit of Connex ImpoWhiz is its extremely fast imposition. Our innovative workflow module makes sure that the printing press never ‘goes hungry.’ In addition, we correct the creeping to prevent the print image from shifting,” says Fabian Becker, Product Manager Connex and MPOWER at Müller Martini. The position of the print image is corrected, ensuring that the page numbers are always in the same position when browsing the brochure, for one. The print image is not shifted relative to the book edge, a risk faced in thicker brochures especially without print image correction, which can negatively impact the overall appearance and readability of the printed product.
“This makes Connex the key to efficient production,” emphasizes Fabian Becker.
Connex LineControl PRO minimizes sources of error
The digital saddle stitcher solution, the third production line being presented live at the Müller Martini booth, features Connex LineControl PRO. The intelligent job folder management tool is capable of communicating with the PRISMAproduction workflow system from Canon, which will be printing the rolls at its HID booth. It automatically forwards the production data to the production systems for printing and finishing, and is responsible not only for imposition but also for managing orders. It creates the order tickets and a printable PDF. Data is managed centrally, minimizing sources of error.
Thanks to Connex Info Cloud, where all data is available online, you can follow the shows live on the screen.
