Sign & Seal Labels strengthens position in South Africa label printing market with SCREEN Truepress

Wednesday 10. July 2024 - Sign & Seal Labels, a South-African specialist in wine label printing, has acquired a SCREEN Truepress LABEL 350UV SAI-S 7 colour press to meet growing demand for customisation and flexibility from wine labelling clients and to maintain its competitive edge in this market.

“We’re intensely aware of the need to up our game in a market where customisation, shorter runs and flexibility are increasingly demanded by wine producers. Our customers are requesting more specialised label finishes, such as foiling and embossing,” says Henk Crous, owner of Sign & Seal Labels. He adds that it is “imperative” for his company “to embrace digital innovation to maintain a competitive edge in the wine labelling market.”
The new SCREEN LABEL 350UV SAI-S 7 colour press significantly expands the colour gamut in label printing and supports variable data printing. This enables Sign & Seal Labels to meet the stringent requirements of the wine label industry, including security-conscious labelling for product authentication. “The machine’s variable data printing feature allows for the inclusion of minute details and text, ensuring compliance with tight regulatory requirements. The use of micro-droplets supports all major types of security printing, including QR and barcodes as well as dot codes and security tint patterns,” Henk Crous explains.
Sustainability goals
Sign & Seal Labels expects the SCREEN press to contribute to its sustainability goals. Crous says: “With a printing speed of 60m/m, the SCREEN Truepress LABEL 350UV SAI-S 7 colour press delivers consistently high print quality while maintaining cost-effectiveness. Its efficiency and reliability exceed traditional analogue machines, delivering three times the productivity levels while maintaining exceptional quality and consistency. With the SAI-S 7 colour model, the time required for preparation work has been dramatically shortened compared to an analogue press. The machine helps us streamline our operations and reduce waste.”
Sign & Seal Labels acquired and installed the new SCREEN system in close partnership with ROTOCON, SCREEN’s agent and service provider in South Africa. “By embracing digital innovation, Sign & Seal Labels is poised to strengthen its leading position in the wine labelling industry,” says Michael Aengenvoort, CEO of ROTOCON group.
