Fashion icons take over Blenheim Palace with help of Moss
Monday 03. June 2024 - To navigate this, Moss used aluminium frames to mount two large banners at the main entrance, while a large freestanding wall was stabilised by 200kg of ballast to prevent any contact with the palaces original walls and allow 30 pictures to be hung.
Building on its role as ‘Place Makers’, branded environment specialist Moss has transformed Blenheim Palace into a vibrant showcase for the Icons of British Fashion exhibition.
Running until June 30th, the unique exhibits take visitors on a journey through decades of British fashion. Featuring an array of UK style stalwarts including Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, and Barbour, Moss has brought the site to life with a stunning selection of banners, displays, graphics and even dye-sublimated print carpets!
Such a vast job was not without its challenges. Blenheim Palace’s listed building status meant all installations had to be done without fixing anything to the structure.
Additionally, the installation of temporary vinyl coverings around priceless antique cabinets required expert precision to ensure no damage was done to the artifacts.
Collaborating closely with Blenheim Palace and the iconic featured brands, six of Moss’s team worked across three days to complete the job. Moss Group Account Director Mike Hamling said; “At Moss, we strive not only to create visually stunning displays but also to respect and preserve the integrity of the historical venues we work with.
“This particular job meant we had to push the boundaries of what is possible with temporary installations. I’m very proud of what we’ve produced for this amazing exhibition and further strengthen our relationship with Blenheim Palace.”
Wherever possible sustainable materials have been used and once the exhibition has finished, Blenheim Palace will keep the frames for future use, while Moss will gather all the materials for recycling.
Kate Ballenger, Keeper of palace and collections at Blenheim said; “Once again we are delighted with the work the team at Moss has delivered for this iconic exhibition. The impact of their work is clear for all to see, and the combination of service, quality and support make them our first choice for any graphics work and signage.”
