High performance density in the smallest of spaces
Wednesday 10. May 2023 - The days of large-scale linear filling processes are over. All the important steps can now be integrated into a smaller space. Schubert is proving this with a new TLM Power Compact Line for natural cosmetics manufacturer Börlind.
The line is designed for high performance density in the smallest of spaces and is being showcased for the first time at the interpack: All process steps, from positioning the containers to filling and sealing, are carried out fully automatically and highly flexibly in an extremely compact area. Schubert cobots feed the packaging components.
Schubert is demonstrating that a smaller machine can also be high-performance with a recently designed filling line for cosmetics manufacturer Börlind. On an incredibly compact 2 x 4 metre space, glass jars, glass bottles and plastic bottles are blown out, checked, filled with liquid cosmetics, sealed and closed with various pump systems and lids. The packaging components are fed via Schuberts tog.519 cobots that are now ready for series production. This combination ensures a high degree of automation and outstanding performance density: In spite of the compact machine design, the filling line processes up to 60 products per minute.
Compact design thanks to new Multi Transport Aggregate
The space-saving design is achieved by means of a new Multi Transport Aggregate (MTA) from Schubert, which complies with the Hygienic Design Standard and is also suitable for especially pure products or products containing alcohol, such as perfume, in compliance with the ATEX explosion protection directive. The MTA moves the packaging materials extremely efficiently to two alternating filling stations. These are highly flexible and enable the filling of two-phase products or parallel filling and cleaning. The flexibility of the packaging solution refers not only to the specific requirements of the cosmetic products, but also to the different packages that the AI-supported cobots can handle. This includes fast set-up times for the different formats and 3D-printed format parts for an even faster time-to-market.
The Schubert image processing system takes care of the required quality controls, including glass breakage checks on the edges of the glass jars. Schuberts modular machine concept is especially advantageous for attaching further process steps directly to the filling line. Labelling and end-of-line packaging, for example, can be integrated to map the entire packaging process seamlessly and fully automatically in a single line.
