Graspo CZ enters the world of digital printing with an HP PageWide T250 HD

Monday 17. April 2023 - Until July 2022, Graspo was a pure offset printer, but was looking for new processes and technologies that would allow the company to expand its product offering and enter new market segments. In addition, Graspo wanted to speed up and automate its production.

Leading European print service provider Graspo CZ is investing in digital printing by installing the HP PageWide T250 HD digital printing system. Thanks to the new HP PageWide T250 HD, Graspo is able to expand its product offering, speed up production and take greater advantage of trends such as customisation.
Graspo, based in the city of Zlín, in the south-east of the Czech Republic, is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of high-quality colour-fast printing of books, notebooks and calendars. In addition, the company specialises in pre-press services including creative graphic design and post-press services such as bookbinding. In doing so, Graspo combines traditional printing craftsmanship with new and modern technology.
Until July 2022, Graspo was a pure offset printer, but was looking for new processes and technologies that would allow the company to expand its product offering and enter new market segments. In addition, Graspo wanted to speed up and automate its production. Another point: while offset printing is high-quality and very suitable for long runs, it is hardly cost-covering for short runs. Graspo therefore looked for ways to respond to the change in demand. So the company decided to invest in an HP PageWide T250 digital press to meet frequent demand for short runs and customised printed materials. The HP press delivered the same high quality and precision as the offset presses. As a result, the HP PageWide T250 complements the existing offset presses in operation at Graspo.
Since the installation of the HP PageWide T250 digital press, the company has been using the new PageWide T250 not only for standard book jobs, but also for promotional calendars and notebooks. This allows each customer to integrate their own layout in the calendar and their own logo or advertising page in the notebook – even for smaller order quantities.
The new printing system automates the production processes. Other advantages: they are faster and more efficient than before. Thanks to the standardisation of production, Graspo is able to offer its customers a high degree of variability in inner book blocks that competitors cannot. The HP PageWide T250 HD digital press with integrated production line and high-speed inkjet technology enables Graspo to print and bind a book block from the first to the last page with just one click, with a different graphic design for each piece in a stack. In addition, the HP PageWide T250 HD digital press has allowed Graspo to combine smaller jobs with the same specifications into a single job, further reducing production times.
Producing short-run jobs has another advantage: the company can produce more sustainably than before – an increasingly important trend or requirement in this industry. The deciding factors for Graspo were the energy efficiency of the HP PageWide T250 HD and the use of water-based inks. Reduced waste was also important to the print provider. Original HP water-based inks contain no hazardous air pollutants and meet all legal requirements. Graspo is thus able to minimise any negative environmental impact.
Št?pán Mud?ík, director of Graspo, on the latest investment: “Our vision was to automate production, optimise the stock of book calendars and notebooks and offer customised products faster. And all this in the highest quality, comparable to offset printing.”
He continues, “Since purchasing our new HP digital printing system with integrated production line, we have not only strengthened our important position in the Czech print market, but also reasserted it between other leading printers.”
Graspo is an excellent example of the many benefits of investing in digital printing technologies. Sustainability is always at the forefront here as well.
