Dario Urbinati is the new CEO at Gallus

Wednesday 14. December 2022 - The Gallus Group has appointed Dario Urbinati, its former Chief Sales & Service Officer, as its new CEO. Urbinati succeeds Dr Frank Schaum, who is taking over responsibility for the printing division of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG).

With many years of experience in the printing industry, Urbinati will drive Gallus’ stated mission: to open up a more sustainable and profitable future for the narrow web printing market through pioneering technologies – such as the recently launched Gallus One.a
As the new CEO, Urbinati brings extensive leadership experience from the global label and packaging industry. In his first job at the long-established Swiss company – from 2007 to 2016, most recently as Managing Director for Gallus South East Asia – he already provided important impetus for growth through business and cultural realignments. This was followed by positions at OMET China (Managing Director, narrow to medium web formats) and at ACTEGA Metal Print GmbH in Germany (Chief Sales & Marketing Officer). He was thus able to help ACTEGA’s innovative metallisation process, which enables spectacular metallic effects while using resources sparingly, to a successful debut.

Commenting on the new appointment, Dr Ludwin Monz, CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, said, “Dario Urbinati has proven himself in the business realignment in strategically important areas. Based on a clear vision for the future of the label market, he has pushed service and support, marketing and sales – among many other aspects. He also launched an ambitious sustainability strategy that aims to make Gallus products climate-neutral by the end of 2022. With long-term growth potential and an unconditional commitment to quality that matches our own, the Gallus Group has a high profile in our packaging business. The “Gallus Experience Center” is also currently being built under Urbinati’s supervision at the company’s headquarters in St. Gallen. The aim is to create a meeting place for the entire value chain – with customers, brand owners and suppliers – to exchange ideas, experiences and approaches to solutions. Together, upcoming challenges can be tackled and new business opportunities can be developed. The demonstration centre, in which Urbinati sees its mission statement of a “label industry of the future” expressed, is scheduled to open its doors in spring 2023.
