Martin Fröhlich appointed as Director of WAN-IFRAs Digital Revenue Network

Tuesday 09. August 2022 - WAN-IFRA is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Fröhlich as Director of the Digital Revenue Network. Fröhlich, who is from Germany, was previously Deputy Head of Newsroom at the Redaktionsgemeinschaft ostwestfälisch-lippischer Verlage (RG OWL).

In his career, he has worked as a reporter, page-turner, media coach, department head, project manager, moderator and technical consultant.
In the past decade, the focus of his work has been on the digital transformation of editorial processes, products, editorial management and journalistic writing. He has led several projects in this area and knows the challenges of adapting thinking and action, which for a long time were exclusively shaped by print requirements, to digital changes.
Fröhlich began his career at a small local newspaper and later moved to the Neue Westfälische newspaper group. He also worked for a media consultancy. The 46-year-old has a degree in history from the University of Bielefeld and is also an experienced writer on health and sports topics.
In his new role at WAN-IFRA, Fröhlich will steer the association’s activities in the digital revenue network. He will also help develop new programmes and strategies that will enable the association’s members to meet the demands of the rapidly changing media industry – with a focus on digital transformation.
“It is truly a privilege to be able to work for WAN-IFRA and to have the chance to contribute to the further development and future viability of an industry in which I have been active for 25 years,” says Martin Fröhlich about his appointment. In his new role, he is also expected to expand the association’s offerings for executives in the German-language news media.
“I am honoured that the management of WAN-IFRA has put its trust in me and entrusted me with the leadership of the Digital Revenue Team. I will make every effort to justify this trust. I look forward to working with WAN-IFRA’s partners and members and hope to play my small part in helping the industry continue on its path to success.”
“I am delighted that Martin Fröhlich will be joining our team. His experience and knowledge of the newspaper and media industry and the day-to-day operations of newsrooms will be an asset to WAN-IFRA in its support for media companies as they move into the digital future,” said Thomas Jacob, Chief Operating Officer of the association. “Fröhlich’s work will further advance our efforts to assist the industry in its pursuit of revenues from its digital offerings.”
