Inkjet & Digital Printing

Much more than just a printing machine

Tuesday 28. June 2022 - Our object is to shorten the learning curve for the customers, so they can exploit everything the technology provides. That work begins at the pre-sales stage and continues in after-sales, as we follow the entire customer path and the experience of using the press.

When it comes to digital inkjet printing, the LB701-UV and LB702-UV presses from BOBST promise to revolutionize the market.
This is because this pair go beyond simple high-tech equipment; they include a full-service package from technical support to solution development. BOBST label application specialist, Thiago Consales, explains that the extremely simple interface allows the inkjet presses to be installed and operational at the customer site in just one to two weeks. He also emphasizes that excellent ground-laying work before any sale is critical in order for the customer to fully understand the potential of the technology and get the most out of the machine.
“Our object is to shorten the learning curve for the customers, so they can exploit everything the technology provides. That work begins at the pre-sales stage and continues in after-sales, as we follow the entire customer path and the experience of using the press. By doing so, we allow them to extract the maximum from the resources and increase the productivity for the applications they already produce with conventional printing methods. We also support them in developing new applications,” he says.
This work begins at the client’s facility. “Once the customer has acquired the new press, the total focus is on their company, analyzing current processes and the best way to integrate this digital technology. Thus, when the machine is installed, we enter with training, best practices to operate the press and software, training of the customer’s sales team on how to sell a digital print product, presentation of the resources and differentials of the machine, and the development of new applications,” comments Consales.
But the customer relationship goes beyond the sale, installation, and initial training. BOBST maintains long-term partnerships, which is important for both the customer and for BOBST itself. “It is crucial for our business that we maintain this continued support, so we can understand if customers are maintaining best use of the press and exploring all opportunities. For us, it is essential that our customers are producing great labels and that they are satisfied,” says Consales.
Another concern for BOBST when bringing the LB701-UV and LB702-UV technology to the Brazilian market was to test and certify locally produced substrates. “Before the machine was available in Brazil, we selected the most used substrates in the local market and shipped them to our headquarters in Switzerland for preliminary testing. These tests were very successful, so when the LB701-UV and LB702-UV presses arrived here, we continued testing to confirm those results. Today, we have approved all the main national suppliers,” explains Consales.
The certification of national materials suppliers is a fundamental step in the development of BOBST UV inkjet technology in the region, as it avoids having to import substrates from overseas, which can be problematic and costly. “These tests guarantee that our customers will not need to import special substrates and consequently maintain specific substrate stocks for the digital process. Furthermore, no pre-treatment, such as corona or primer application, is needed which reduces the cost and increases the speed to market. All this confirms BOBST’s goal: to increase our customers’ productivity and allow them to produce short to long runs at competitive cost,” concludes Consales.
