Full-colour labels with variable data QR codes in the fight against Covid 19
Friday 22. October 2021 - Bangkok-based Harn Engineering Solutions is using its Domino N610i 7-colour inkjet label press to digitally print full-colour variable data QR codes for application to oxygen concentrators used in the fight against Covid 19 in Thailand.
Harn uses Domino N610i to print variable data QR codes on oxygen concentrators used in fight against Covid-19. The unique QR codes are used for online traceability of the oxygen concentrators.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted permission to the Chaipattana Foundation to use funds from the Chaipattana Covid 19 Relief Fund to purchase these high-powered oxygen concentrators, which will be distributed on loan and free of charge to hospitals, affiliated field hospitals and first responders in Thailand to help medical staff treat Covid 19 patients with respiratory problems.
The Chaipattana Foundation is a non-governmental organisation established by King Bhumibol Adulyadej and has been operating in Thailand since 1988, developing projects for the national and social benefit of the Thai people.
Dr Jain Charnnarong, President of Ananda Mahidol Foundation, said, “It is crucial that the print quality of the unique variable data QR codes has high resolution and consistent quality for scanning. To ensure the hygiene and safety standards of the oxygen concentrators, there is an important and robust disinfection procedure that requires thorough cleaning with alcohol wipes before they are passed on to the next patient. This means that labels must be able to maintain print quality and readability of QR codes – even after repeated wiping.”
Dr Charnnarong continues, “We needed a fast, reliable and high quality printing solution to deliver the short runs of these labels in a short lead time. The Domino N610i digital label press enabled us to meet these requirements and print the labels digitally. We are pleased to have been able to support this important project in the fight against this unprecedented and devastating pandemic.”
The N610i is based on Domino’s proven and reliable Generation 6 inkjet technology, of which there are already nearly 1000 installations worldwide.
