John Dollin Printing Services Ltd enhances digital vision with UKs second HP Indigo 100K
Tuesday 20. April 2021 - John Dollin Printing Services Ltd has this week installed a HP Indigo 100K digital press to expand the companys digital printing capabilities, following its acquisition by Venn Holdings Limited. Founded in 1976, John Dollin Printing Services (JDP) is one of the largest and most well-respected commercial printers in the south of England.
Based in Hampshire, the company prides itself on its ability to provide customers with a complete print solution, specialising not only in the printing of stationery, marketing materials and packaging, but also personalised mailing and finishing services.
Last month, the company was acquired by Venn Holdings Limited, an acquisition vehicle headed by print executives Anthony Thirlby and Andy Rae. The acquisition forms part of the holding companys mission to create a technology-focused printing group that is a leader within the label, commercial and packaging sectors.
Venn Holdings is intent on redefining the break-even point of digital to analogue products. After a rebrand from John Dollin to JDP, the print providers philosophy is clear; that technology, market requirements and operational excellence are the core infrastructure elements of the business.
JDP had already installed a HP Indigo 7600 digital press and a HP Indigo 12K digital press which equipped the business with an impressive digital capability, particularly for the geographical area. However, the company has since decided to replace the HP Indigo 7600 with an Indigo 100K, only the second 100K digital press in the country.
Despite the huge leap in capacity, the company is unfazed, thanking its latest installation for immediate business growth, already up 70% on digital impressions volume. It has since landed new contract wins and will leverage its increased capacity to create strong partnerships across both B2B and B2C markets. The installation of the HP Indigo 100K is also the first step in enhancing JDPs digital and technology-led vision. Not only does the new press support this vision, it also delivers the companys ability to scale-up with minimal labour costs.
When speaking about the latest installation and the business overall vision, Anthony Thirlby said, “Deploying and utilising the correct technology across the full spectrum of our targeted product portfolio is paramount to the strategy of JDP and Venn. We have a very clear vision on how we incorporate our clients requirements from the ever-evolving world of the printed product. Ensuring we are a tech-led smart manufacturer of all things print, will always be our core DNA.”
Peter Jolly, Indigo Country Manager, UK and Ireland, HP Inc. also commented on JDPs new installation, adding, “It is refreshing to see JDPs focused strategy here in removing two litho presses and applying the associated volumes across the two B2 HP Indigo presses. A clear strategy that acknowledges the way print and its run lengths are behaving both now and in the coming years ahead.”
