Packaging specialist produces sustainable corona partitions

May 2020 - Schumacher Pack Solution GmbH, a company of the Schumacher Packaging Group (www.schumacher-packaging.com), has developed an innovative spit protection made of corrugated board with a viewing window. The EcoSafeBoard enables companies from a wide range of industries to welcome their customers in greater numbers, even during times of illness.

The catering and service trade in particular, but also industry, benefit from the new type of partition walls. The flexible corrugated board boards can be placed on tables and floors or suspended from the ceiling. In a recent study, the Robert Koch Institute confirms that corona viruses do not adhere well to cardboard surfaces: After 24 hours no viruses are detectable. However, the EcoSafeBoard not only protects customers and employees, but also the environment: The partition walls are 100% recyclable and can be disposed of easily and ecologically. “The EcoSafeBoard thus offers a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to conventional protective walls,” explains Jochen Drösel, Sales Manager (CSO) at Schumacher Packaging, one of the largest family-run manufacturers of packaging solutions made of corrugated and solid board.
Mobile partitions are a practical tool when it comes to reducing the risk of infection during a wave of disease such as the Corona pandemic. Many companies and businesses currently use plastic or Plexiglas. Schumacher Pack Solution now offers a paper-based alternative: the frame of the EcoSafeBoard is made of one hundred percent recycled paper and is completely recyclable. The window film can also be easily removed and disposed of in the light material collection; the remaining parts of the partition wall are disposed of with the waste paper. This makes the EcoSafeBoard a creative and ecological alternative to plastic and glass.
One standard – five solutions
The EcoSafeBoard is available in a standard size of 630 x 1,180 mm in landscape and portrait format. The viewing window made of window film, which is enclosed by the corrugated cardboard frame, ensures light transmission and allows risk-free visual contact. Thanks to the plug-in system, EcoSafeBoard can be used as a floor stand between tables and seating or as a protective wall on tables. Corrugated cardboard feet are available in two different heights. In addition, the partition is also available as a suspension so that the floor area can remain free. “Once set up and safe – the EcoSafeBoard can be used in many areas,” explains Leena Gaebler, Managing Director of Schumacher Pack Solution GmbH. “In restaurants and beer gardens, it acts as a partition on and between tables to ensure the protection of guests while making better use of space capacities. In industrial halls and offices, workplaces can be safely partitioned off – without having to forego personal interaction and teamwork”.
EcoSafeBoard successfully tested
Caterers and hairdressers, who have already had the opportunity to test the protective walls, are enthusiastic: “After a long period of absence over the last few weeks, we are pleased to be able to welcome more guests and the authorities are also convinced of the solution”, report Sarah and Maria Franz from the “Prinzengarten” beer garden in Coburg. Marco Murlot, hairdresser in Bamberg adds: “The boards with gold frames fit perfectly into our interior. They offer protection without looking too sterile. Our team and the customers particularly like that”.
Responsible and chic
The EcoSafeBoard is available as standard in five design variants: in neutral white, in slate and steel look, in rustic vintage wood look and in a noble gold tone. The viewing window consists of clear window film. “Unlike protective walls made of plastic and Plexiglas, the EcoSafeBoards have style,” explains Leena Gaebler. “Businesses and companies can choose one of the five designs that best suits the location”. Starting from a purchase quantity of 200 pieces, it is possible to customize the boards with a desired design. This also gives brand manufacturers the opportunity to use the protective walls as advertising space at the points of sale. The EcoSafeBoards are manufactured using a modern digital printing process that ensures a high-quality look.
