Contact works with GMG in order to enhance capabilities

Wednesday 09. January 2019 - Contact Originators, an innovation-led packaging origination and graphics management company, hascollaborated with GMG toextend its capabilities with the installation of OpenColor along with the latest EPSON Surecolor P Series including the Violet Ink Set.

The collaboration will allow Contact to significantly shorten lead times, while simultaneously enhancing control and efficiency. It will also enable greater consistency, ensuring the same colours are accurately reproduced from proof to press and from one run to the next.
Mark Kay, Contact Originators Flexo Colour Manager, said: “We have been working with GMG for a long time on this project and this latest installation shows our commitment to being at the very forefront of print technology. The new OpenColor and EPSON SureColor Violet solution places us right at the top of the sector and means we can continue to offer our customers unrivalled quality and service.”
Business Development Manager at GMG, Paul Bromley, said: “The company has worked in partnership with Contact for over a decade and in recent weeks we completed the implementation of a year-long investment programme, enabling Contact Originators to strengthen its position at the forefront of the corrugated and print sector.”
“The latest technology addition includes GMG’s ground-breaking spectral proofing in GMG OpenColor, including GMG MiniWedge alongside upgrades to EPSON hardware. The MiniWedge has just 39 swatches, meaning it is small enough to position in the trim area of almost every job.
“This allows for profile proofs and separations to be significantly faster, as well as producing less waste and improving overall quality. The range of devices with extra violet Ink also helps when proofing extended gamut or a brand’s spot colour.”
Mr. Bromley added “Contact Originators also utilise GMG’s Colour Separation tools. This allows the company to use actual press data when applying colour conversions to images, ensuring that all predictions are made upfront without wasting valuable press time.”
Contact’s Mark Kay added: “We have been delighted to work with GMG on the recent upgrade programme and look forward to receiving FOGRA certification and accreditation as part of the two companies’ ongoing relationship.”
