Textile Printing
Big impact with textile print at SGI Dubai 2019
Monday 11. June 2018 - Textile printing with pigment inks can achieve stunning results that impress customers.
SGI Dubai 2019 show, the biggest and most comprehensive exhibition catering not only to the signage and textile printing markets in the region and beyond, announces that several exhibitors will be showcasing solutions for textile printing with pigment inks.
Pigment inks are mainly used for printing on cotton and cotton-blended textile substrates. These inks are not absorbed by the material but adhere to the surface. While years ago the colors appeared to be faded, those issues have by now after over 15 years of existence of this technology been solved.
The ink required pre-treatment (coating) and post-treatment (drying, heatpress). The pre-treatment prepares the substrate for receiving the ink. After printing the ink directly onto the material, the ink requires fixation to avoid ink peeling or scratching which is usually done by employing a heatpress or another drying/curing process. Special curing devices are usually available from the manufacturers of textile printers which work better than a heatpress.
All cotton-based material can thus be printed on. However, it should be watched that when printing on colored surfaces, especially black, a white underprint should be done in order to achieve bright coloring of the actual image. Stunning results can this be achieved that not only impress private customers but also business clientele.
By being able to produce a “One off” personalized prints, either for a household or for a company, can be achieved. With Expo 2020 just around the corner, there is much requirement for short runs and bespoke, individual textiles, not only for companies but also for the wide public and any kind of business.
SGI Dubai 201 will take place from January 13 – 15, 2019 at the World Trade Center in Dubai (UAE).
