LFP - Large-Format-Printing
Canon Europe showcases expanded range of wide format solutions with FESPA 2017 launch of new 64 Océ Colorado roll-to-roll printer
Friday 12. May 2017 - Canon Europe, world-leader in imaging solutions, will use FESPA 2017 (Messe Hamburg, 8-12 May 2017) to showcase its newly expanded range of wide format printing solutions.
The highlight of the Canon stand at FESPA will be the first EMEA showing of the Océ Colorado 1640, Canons new 64″ roll-to-roll printer based on UVgel technology. Two models of the new printer will be on show, enabling visitors to see for themselves the exceptional productivity, quality and applications versatility achievable with UVgel, supported by the printers industrial design and automation features. Visitors will be able to see a wide range of applications produced on the Océ Colorado 1640, including wall and floor graphics, banners, wall coverings, posters and backlit advertising materials.
Mark Lawn, Director, Graphic & Communications Group, Canon Europe comments: “With the introduction of the Océ Colorado 1640 – alongside our market-leading Arizona, imagePROGRAF and ColorWave series printers – we can help even more wide-format print service providers to explore new possibilities for their business. We expect Canon UVgel technology to be a positive force for further evolution in the digital wide format sector, delivering a significant leap forward in productivity and applications capability in a market which has seen only incremental developments in recent years as prevailing technologies have matured.
“By bringing such a radical product innovation to market at FESPA 2017, we aim to build on the strong reputation Canon has earned among producers of photographic, signage, graphics and decorative applications, and create transformative opportunities for customers in these dynamic and fast-growing markets.”
At FESPA 2017 Canon will also be showcasing the high productivity capability of the Océ Arizona 6170 XTS – one model from its flagship Océ Arizona 6100 Series which currently has an install base of more than 100 across EMEA – with the live production of structural display stands printed on media such as corrugated board. This point-of-sale application mirrors the typical output of customers using the press today, namely print service providers (PSPs) requiring superior quality and consistency coupled with production needs of up to 100,000 square metres per year.
The Arizona 1280GT will be in live production throughout the event, demonstrating an automated print-and-cut workflow using the new Océ Auto Pilot system as part of the Océ ProCut digital cutting table. First seen as a prototype at drupa 2016, the Océ Auto Pilot is a co-development with Zünd Skandinavien which delivers significant productivity gains, dramatically reducing manual operator intervention at the finishing stage.
Océ Auto Pilot uses Canon EOS imaging technology to recognise proprietary registration marks on the printed media. The solution automatically identifies and initiates simultaneous in-register cutting, creasing or kiss cutting of all jobs and materials on the cutter table to their individual finishing specifications, regardless of substrate. This introduces a level of automation that was previously only viable for larger production volumes of identical materials.
Canon will also show the Océ ColorWave 700 producing a range of graphics applications, and the Océ ColorWave 910 with high-capacity stacker for high-speed poster production.
In addition, two models from the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-Series will be at FESPA 2017 – the PRO-4000 producing the highest quality photo and fine art prints, and the PRO-6000S delivering high productivity output for applications such as photo canvasses, banners and other premium photographic products.
Demonstrating the potential for wide format PSPs to offer customers a broader portfolio of customer engagement materials, Canon will also show the imagePRESS C750 digital toner press, producing a range of marketing collateral including customer engagement pieces such as direct mail postcards and gatefold banners.
From a central applications area on the stand, visitors will see how the diverse range of Canon technologies on show can be driven by web-to-print workflows and integrated into highly productive customer environments. Example applications will be produced using wide format media from Canons extensive range, which includes substrates optimised for water-based, solvent and UV processes, Océ CrystalPoint as well as for the new UVgel technology.
As well as live application demos throughout the event, Canon will also be showcasing the work of some of its most creative customers across EMEA.
Mark Lawn concludes: “Our focus with each successive innovation from Canon is to support PSPs to be more productive, to exceed their customers quality expectations, and to give them versatile solutions that will enable them to expand their product and service offering into lucrative new areas. Were confident that visitors to Canon at FESPA 2017 will be inspired by the capabilities of our products and how we can apply our applications and business development expertise to help them to fulfil their commercial potential.”
