Canon offers customers a first step into professional-level application versatility with the introduction of imagePRESS C650
Friday 10. March 2017 - Canon Europe, leader in imaging solutions, is extending its market-leading imagePRESS portfolio with the introduction of the C650. The new 65 page per minute model is designed to offer customers, such as in-house print departments, creative businesses and those producing professional-standard documents, an entry point into producing more specialist applications previously restricted by finishing capabilities and workflow integration.
Built on the same platform engine as the imagePRESS C850 Series (launched in September 2016), the C650 offers the same combination of consistently high print quality, performance and reliability as the other models in the range, while also incorporating more professional finishing options from the C850 series into the 65 ppm segment.
Peter Wolff, Senior Director, Customer Group Commercial Printer and Production CRD, Canon Europe, comments: “For corporate print departments and smaller progressive print service providers (PSPs) who have traditionally focused on less complex document applications, the imagePRESS C650 presents an opportunity to diversify into higher-end, professionally finished applications such as catalogues, booklets and direct mail, as well as high-impact marketing collateral including duplex banner and envelopes.
“For this type of customer, brand consistency, colour management and creativity are also becoming increasingly important. These evolving needs called for an entry-level production device that can connect directly to other systems within the customers business, at a price point that makes these applications viable for them. With the imagePRESS C650 we have that solution,” added Wolff.
Finishing options available on the imagePRESS C650 include a two-knife booklet trimmer, a paper folding unit, a document insertion unit, a booklet finisher, a multi hole punch including creasing and a staple finisher. The device also enables duplex banner printing, giving customers greater productivity when producing applications on long sheet media.
Importantly, the new imagePRESS model offers flexible workflow options for graphic arts customers, supporting a range of production RIPs including PRISMAsync and the new EFI Fiery imagePRESS Server H300. For customers in office environments – predominantly producing both internal and external professional-standard documents – the C650 can integrate into their existing systems through imagePRESS Printer kits. It also works seamlessly with office workflow systems such as uniFLOW, by using Multi-functional Embedded Application Platforms (MEAPs).
“With the imagePRESS C650 we can enable quality-focused office users the flexibility to start producing new applications, as well as improve their more traditional internal and external communication outputs,” commented Nick Klitsie, Senior Director Sales, Document Solutions. “This is a positive step forward for customers in this environment and, due to the finishing options available, it will certainly pave the way for greater professional-standard application diversity.”
“More opportunities to grow and diversify are moving into customers reach, either through the applications they can offer or through enhanced quality capabilities, both enabling them to expand their client base. It is important that we listen to the challenges customers face and work with them to meet these head on. This further development of the imagePRESS family is a perfect example of meeting specific customer needs by expanding the scope of already proven technology,” concluded Wolff.
