Thursday 13. October 2016 - Even before its world premiere at drupa 2016, the Primera MC saddle stitcher with Motion Control sparked an enthusiastic response in its field tests.

Two long-standing Swiss partners of Müller Martini, AVD in Goldach and Vogt-Schild Druck AG in Derendingen, tested the Primera MC thoroughly before it was unveiled to the public in Düsseldorf. Conclusion: It passed the stress test. The specialists at both companies were particularly impressed by the considerably faster setup times, thanks to servo technology, on the feeders that can be swiveled back to make them more accessible, the folder cover feeder equipped with a stream feeder, and the mobile card gluer.

“I consider the ability to move the mobile card gluer as one of the greatest achievements by Müller Martini,” says Rolf Steiner. The Managing Director of Vogt-Schild, one of Switzerland’s most highly automated industrial printing companies in , was also impressed by the new feeders. “The fact that each feeder has injector vacuum pumps that produce the required volume of suction air without any loss of air contributes substantially to the high energy efficiency of the entire system.”

The innovative Motion Control drive technology makes setups easier and allows higher production performance. Given the changing market environment, the Primera MC offers high investment protection as it can be easily upgraded to a Primera MC Digital for the efficient processing of digitally printed products.

AVD also has high expectations for the successor of its Prima Amrys. The company in St. Gallen, with some 130 titles and one of Switzerland’s largest magazine printing plants, was impressed by the increase in efficiency. “Compared to the Prima Amrys, the Primera MC is at least 50 percent faster to set up,” says Deputy Division Manager Martin Graf.
