The speaker lineup of the 2015 Continuous Improvement Conference has grown more impressive with the addition of Dan Markovitz, president of a consulting firm that utilizes Lean principles to improve individual and team performance by identifying and eliminating root-cause impediments to productivity.
Markovitz is a faculty member at the Lean Enterprise Institute and teaches at Stanford Continuing Studies, part of Stanford University. He has consulted for organizations as diverse as Abbott Vascular, WL Gore & Associates, Intel, the City of Menlo Park, Clif Bar, CamelBak, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
He is the author of A Factory of One: Applying Lean Principles to Banish Waste and Improve Your Personal Performance, a book honored with a Shingo Research Award in 2013.
In his session at the conference, Markovitz will teach methods for applying Lean concepts such as 5S, flow, and visual management to managerial work, increasing the time and attention spent on creating value. Attendees will learn how to blend organization and time management techniques with Lean thinking, seamlessly extending continuous improvement into the office.
Markovitz will be joined by keynote speakers Paul Akers and John Banovetz and session speakers, including business and quality leaders from Appvion, Artistic Finishes, Cal Poly, Fineline Printing Group, Flex Craft, Image Craft, Liturgical Publications, Paris Art Labels, Quad/Graphics, Western Graphics, and Wikoff Color.
The conference agenda also features plant tours of Western Graphics, Japs-Olson, and Tennant Company. These tours give attendees the opportunity to see how other firms apply continuous improvement strategies and concepts.
The Continuous Improvement Conference is slated for April 12-15, 2015, in Minneapolis, MN. The conference is organized by Printing Industries of America, in partnership with Flexographic Technical Association and Specialty Graphic Imaging Association.
