Screen Releases Entry-level CtP Recorder For Letterpress/Flexo Printing
Tuesday 24. June 2014 - New Model Reduces Initial Costs and Accelerates Transition to CtP in Label Printing
The Media and Precision Technology Company of Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. has finalized development of the new PlateRite FX870II-EL, an entry-level model set to join Screen’s PlateRite FX870II series of thermal CtP recorders for letterpress and flexo printing. The PlateRite FX870II-EL lowers initial costs and is specifically designed to support adoption by a wide variety of users.
Sales of the PlateRite FX870II-EL are scheduled to begin in June 2014. The launch will target areas where the letterpress format is primarily used for label printing, including the Japanese domestic and Asian regional markets, as well as emerging markets around the world.
With the global trend toward consumerization, there has been consistent growth in the requirements for packaging, as an essential element in product supply. The seal and label printing industry has experienced a similar rise in demand for high-quality packaging, due to the increased value it adds to products. However, companies in this segment have also become increasingly focused on how to improve the efficiency of their production processes in order to differentiate themselves from competitors.
Recognizing these trends, Screen has worked to develop the PlateRite FX870II-EL as an entry-level model for its PlateRite FX870II lineup. The new system is equipped with many of the functions that have won praise in Screen’s PlateRite FX series, including top-quality output at a resolution of up to 4,800 dpi and exposure of thermal offset plates (option). It also offers effective throughput of from 1.0 to 1.5 square meters (10.7 to 16.1 square feet) per hour for letterpress plates. These features eliminate film output and other intermediate processing steps, while the ability to directly expose letterpress plates provides more consistent output quality.
With the label printing industry expected to undergo significant growth, this latest expansion of the PlateRite FX lineup will help to meet a variety of user needs both now and in the future.
Screen will take part in the 2014 China International Exhibition for Label Technology, to be held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center in Shanghai, China from June 12 (Thurs.) to 14 (Sat.), and will be exhibiting the PlateRite FX870II-EL (stand No. A2402).
