Inkjet & Digital Printing
Proven products for the newspaper of the future
Tuesday 01. October 2013 - technotrans forges a bridge from conventional to digital
For over 20 years technotrans AG, as system supplier for newspaper printers, has exhibited at the annual IfraExpo”, that will be taking place in Berlin from the 7. to the 9. October 2013 under the extended title “World Publishing Expo”. This will be the first show where the Westphalian company will not be displaying technical exhibits. “The technotrans solutions for modern and profitable newspaper printing are known”, explains the trade show coordinator Walter Bartmann. “The spray bars of the deltaspray.line continue to be successful. For the upgrade of newspaper presses or investment in new machines, the cross-flow filtration for the preparation of dampening solution, delta.f, has also proved to be a real cost killer. Anyone who wants to modernize or newly acquire a central inking system knows, that such a project is in good hands with technotrans.”
By dispensing with exhibits technotrans wants to encourage more communication on the booth. The discussions with users and manufacturers will mainly focus on the rapid technological transition of the newspaper printing industry. Naturally one point of emphasis here is digital printing. “For over two decades our engineers have met the challenges resulting from increasingly faster speeds, wider print formats and fluctuating paper quality”, is how Sales Director Peter Böcker describes the demand for information. “In future, conventional and digital printing will not be that far apart. Therefore particularly the technotrans core competence for refrigeration and temperature control is in demand. Leading manufacturers of digital job printing have already opted for our omega.line. However there are still quite a few challenges with regard to digital newspaper printing.” Böcker already sees the need for technologically mature ink supply from large containers for digital printing. The pump and valve technology required for this, as well as the reliable piping in the pressroom, are also part of the core competence of technotrans. He also describes a procedure with which the toner can be reconditioned. “It’s a rather fascinating topic, which has engaged our R&D department for quite some time. If we manage to recondition used toner for further printing processes, this will not only considerably reduce waste, but naturally also the need for fresh toner. In good old technotrans tradition this would be a further, particularly environmentally friendly, cost-cutting measure for printing companies.”
For Walter Bartmann the dialogue with users and manufacturers is particularly important. “This has continued to be a source of technological innovation over the years”, explains the Key Account Manager. “What employees from the companies describe as the challenges they face on a daily basis, is the starting signal for our experts to develop solutions. The digital printing industry is still young, the choice of machines relatively small. Experience has shown that at this early stage there is much potential for standardizing processes and saving resources. We look forward to this new technological area, which we can develop together with our longstanding partners from the print industry.”
As in the past year the company IST METZ from Nürtingen will be displaying on the stand of technotrans AG. The experts for UV technology will be showing their solutions for newspaper printing and will advise publishing houses which equipment is the ideal supplementation for their machine configuration.
