Swallowtail Print swoops in to Heidelberg for a Linoprint C751
Friday 02. August 2013 - Norwich printer Swallowtail Print is switching from Konica Minolta to Heidelberg with its latest investment in digital printing. Quality of output and the range of stocks it can handle is what persuaded the company to invest in the Linoprint C 751.
The new digital line, which includes an inline booklet-maker, has been delivered to the company where it will operate alongside two litho offset Speedmasters, a CD 102-5 and an XL 75-5+L.
“We saw the Linoprint operate at the Brentford showroom and loved the quality it could achieve even on coated stocks,” says James Baxter, production director of Swallowtail Print. “
Our customers will struggle to see which process is used and that means where we produce a short run digitally and then a full run subsequently – which happens quite regularly with book or new product launches – we can move from digital to litho with confidence, using the most appropriate technology for the volume.”
The Linoprint C 751 is a good medium volume solution, a 75 page per minute digital press with an Efi E41A Rip. Like its big brother, the C 901, it incurs no minimum click charge rate. Having digital as well as litho has equipped Heidelberg to give its customers objective and informed advice on matching technology and applications, steering them to making investments that best suit the scale and type of work they produce.
The company uses a dedicated and experienced digital printer on one shift but can use the Linoprint C 751 round the clock when required as its prepress staff can run it very competently as well.
“We have always been a Heidelberg house because of the quality of manufacture and support they provide. With the Linoprint they have a press that fits well into that ethos. It makes our life easier to deal with one main supplier,” says Mr Baxter.
Although the company boasts 200 years’ experience, it is very forward-thinking and is currently trialling the use of social media, promoting its serves through Linked In, Facebook and Twitter.
Swallowtail supplies brochures, stationery, newsletters, magazines, greetings cards, books and response print to London and the East England region.
