Totally T-Shirts! Workshop Provides Expert, Hands-On Instruction

Wednesday 22. May 2013 - SGIA takes garment screen printing to another level

Garment decoration students gathered two weeks ago for SGIA’s Totally T-Shirts! Garment Screen Printing Workshop, where the classroom lectures spilled over into the lab for a fully interactive education on T-shirt screen printing. Held May 6-10 in SGIA’s state-of-the-art facility in Fairfax, Virginia, attendees learned basic and advanced techniques through a combination of lecture and hands-on instruction.
Industry veteran Charlie Taublieb guided students through stretching, coating, exposing and setting up the press. The five-day Workshop also covered advanced screen making techniques using the latest high-tech equipment, press setup and parameters for proper flashing and curing.
“I had heard from other instructors that had been through the class, that it was really beneficial for advanced techniques,” said Brian Hoag, the Media Arts instructor at Roseville Area High School in Roseville, Minnesota. “It’s been a great experience.”
Designed for shops that want to step up their game to become professional and profitable garment screen printers, the Totally T-Shirts! Workshop was a fully immersed experience for attendees on all levels.
