Prepress
Nela: Focus on Process Automation
Thursday 18. October 2012 - Just-in-time delivery of press-ready plates to the press, integration of pre-press workflows with plate production and press control, and on-press register control systems: these are the areas that NELA has been emphasizing on in the past few years. At WPE in Frankfurt, the German system supplier will present a wealth of new and interesting features relating to the above key themes.
For Guido Eckenwalder, NELA’s director of Sales & Marketing, World Publishing Expo still is one of the highlights in the annual trade show calendar. “Although a little smaller than it used to be WPE still is an important show for NELA. Process automation for newspapers is one of our core competences, which means that we will be at the show to talk to our customers about how we can help them finding the right solutions for their plate making and plate automation needs. The focus is on plate-to-press solutions and on systems for automatic colour register and cut-off register control for web presses. A team of NELA specialists will be available on our booth to answer any questions and discuss specific projects.”
On its booth, NELA presents new automation solutions with the Plate ReOrganizer. This compact and extremely fast tower can sort press-ready plates in the exact order as needed on the press cylinders. The NELA PlateFlow software, which may interface with any type of press control software, supervises the entire plate sorting and plate provision process. The ReOrganizer is capable of handling up to 800 pph and offers a lot of benefits for highly regionalized newspapers with many editions.
Another emphasis is on NELA’s OnPress Register Control-System, a closed-loop system delivering precise colour and cut-off register on web presses. This system is ideal for retrofit on older presses.
