The next generation of industrial terminals

Thursday 21. April 2011 - Bizerba presents the iS70 PC terminal

Bizerba industrial weighing machines stand for innovative technology, precision, operational reliability and robustness. The Balingen-based solutions provider is launching the next generation of industrial terminals at the international packaging trade fair Interpack from 12th to 18th May 2011 in Düsseldorf (hall 14, booth C14).
As the successor to the tried and tested NT Terminal, the new iS70 terminal is setting new benchmarks for the future and particularly stands out because of its additional new high-performance features and interfaces to a wide variety of systems. The easy-to-clean, stainless steel terminal conforms with protection class IP 65, has an ergonomic and hygienic design and, just like its predecessor, is protected against dust and powerful water jets.
The iS70 is also available with a 39.12cm (15.4″) display or a 48.3cm (19″) with an LED backlight. The unique touch-screen technology increases operational comfort and safety, and is also robust in operation. The user interface is based on the new GFG Touch technology. This combines the benefits of the proven resistive touch-screen technology with a durable, thin top glass layer.
“With this new technology, the customer has a chemical- and scratch-resistant touch-screen surface at his disposal which can also be operated with chain gloves or the point of a knife without being damaged,” explains Dieter Conzelmann, Director of Industry Solutions at Bizerba. “An entry-level resistive touch variant is, of course, available for both display sizes.” The iS70 runs using the Windows Embedded Stand 7 (32bit) operating system.
Another feature: “The new terminal has an integrated WLAN connection. This can also be retrofitted on-site without any problems at all,” says Conzelmann. “A new cable bushing also allows standard cables to be used, without these cables having any effect on the protection class. The unit can thus be integrated into existing production structures and networks and be connected to peripheral units.”
With Intel Atom D510 and Intel Celeron processors, as well as the standard 2GB RAM of memory, the user has a modern and high-performance unit at his disposal. Optional memory of 4GB RAM is available for one model. The standard iS70 model has an 8GB hard drive. If the customer requires more storage space, an additional hard drive can also be built in. Six USB ports, one of which is available for external connections, three Ethernet interfaces (10/100/1000Mbit) and serial interfaces (also able to be electrically isolated, if required) guarantee connectivity to the widest range of unit environments. “The use of the NTscale software from Bizerba makes it possible to operate up to three different sets of scales,” Conzelmann continues; “and all calibration-relevant data is displayed. Through the software, the customer has a customisable memory meaning that all weighing procedures are retraceable.” Using NTscale, multi-interval and multi-range scales can also be connected. In addition, weighing data can also be transferred to higher-level systems, such as SAP for example, by implementing Bizerba’s _connect.BRAIN software.
The unit is installed using a pedestal stand, a supporting column or using the standard VESA 100 wall bracket.
