Sensor roller ELTENS with fully integrated sensors for mounting in hygiene machinery

Thursday 21. April 2011 - Slack webs and web tears cause expensive machine downtime. To prevent this problem occurring, continuous, reliable measurement and control of the tensile forces acting on a web are essential. The sensor roller PD 40 for single-sided mounting is particularly suitable for narrow webs in the non-woven fabric and hygiene sector.

The crucial feature of the new web tension measuring system is the load sensors integrated into the roller in the form of one load cell on each end of the axle. The actual tensile force on a very wide range of webs is measured continuously and with high linearity using strain gauges. The broad measuring range of 1:25 and the low mass inertia due to a carbon roller tube ensure optimal properties for usage in hygiene machinery with single-sided mounting.
