Mailing Film Leader Makes Big Investment In Sophisticated New Flexopress

Tuesday 19. April 2011 - One of the most modern flexographic presses in Europe has just been installed in Norfolk, as the UK’s leading mailing film and polythene envelope manufacturer, Polyprint Mailing Films, makes a £1 million investment in expanding its capacity, to meet growing demand.

Polyprint, which supplies printed mailing films to many of the biggest names in the publishing and mailing industries, has installed a second eight colour Onyx Central Impression (CI) flexopress from Italian company Uteco.
With a maximum print speed of 365 metres per minute, the new Uteco Onyx CI press will increase capacity at Polyprint’s Norfolk factory, as well as enabling the company to offer even greater flexibility and turnaround times.
“This is a big investment by any measure,” said Polyprint managing director Jonathan Neville. “Once we had decided to increase our capacity, it was a question of finding the very best machine for the job. The new press is now fully online, and is one of the most modern and sophisticated flexopresses operating anywhere in Europe.”
The new eight colour press is a long repeat range press which can print up to a 800mm repeat, with a print width of up to 1200mm. It can take reels of up to 800mm diameter to maximise capacity, and features an automatic air recirculation system with LEL control.
Uteco is recognised as a world leader in the manufacture of printing presses and converting equipment focused on flexible packaging applications. It is based near Verona in northern Italy.
