Report on Operating Conditions at Komori Production Facilities (As of April 8, 2011)
Tuesday 12. April 2011 - The following is a report on operating conditions at Komori Corporations Tsukuba Plant and its subsidiary Komori Machinery as of April 8, 2011.
The Tsukuba Plant and Komori Machinery resumed normal operation on March 22, 2011. The first shipment of a press from the Tsukuba Plant after the earthquake was a four-color Lithrone S40 shipped to China on March 15, and the first shipment of a press from Komori Machinery was a four-color Lithrone S26 shipped to a Japanese user on March 13. Between those shipments and April 8, presses were shipped to China, North America, Europe, India and Southeast Asia.
Both plants are currently operating normally and there is no affect on production. However, some partner companies have expressed concerns about restrictions on operating hours due to the implementation of planned outages in response to increased demand for electric power in the summer, and it will be necessary to pay attention to this point in the future.
Because many of our primary partner companies are located in the area from the northern part of Ibaraki Prefecture to the Tohoku region, there were cases in which Komori had to go to pick up parts during the period when fuel supplies were unstable immediately after the earthquake. However, the situation has now returned to normal due to the major improvement in the fuel supply and the reopening of most parts of roads that had been closed. Komori is providing reconstruction support to partner companies that were directly impacted by the earthquake and is receiving temporary assistance from other companies.
At present, although there are some minor delays in the shipment of some machines, Komori Machinery expects to return to its original plan by the end of April 2011, and the Tsukuba Plant is scheduled to return to its original plan by the end of May.
We will continue to keep our customers informed with updates whenever necessary.
