So far over 50 tonnes have been used for the 336 page hardcover version, which was printed and bound by Butler, Tanner and Dennis,
Prince Charles and HarperCollins were keen to ensure the highest quality environmentally friendly paper was used and Arctic Paper were the natural supplier of choice for this lavish and visually beautiful book. Arctic Paper is one of the worlds most high-profile and eco-conscious manufacturers of paper.
Garry Colyer, Managing Director of Arctic Paper UK commented “Environmental considerations are becoming increasingly important in all industries and the book segment is no exception. Arctic paper has always taken a leading position regarding environmentally friendly papers and clients can be assured that Arctic Paper continues to be focused on the global effects of paper making. Arctic paper grades are not only accredited with FSC and PEFC, but also produced without compromise to their water usage and are produced under strict environmental control”.
HarperCollins and Arctic Paper have enjoyed a very successful partnership for many years and look to continue that working relationship in the future. The brief from HarperCollins to source a specific environmentally friendly paper without compromising superior print quality was a challenge Arctic Paper was eager to take on.
James Graves, Global Production Sourcing Director at HarperCollins says: “For this project we took the brief to Arctic Paper who, after discussions on the range of papers, proposed Arctic Volume High White FSC to meet the quality, bulk, cost and environmental requirements. Harper Collins and Arctic Paper carried out a print trial on the paper which demonstrated outstanding print results. “
The new Arctic Volume Range is a bulky, matt and fully-coated paper that comes in three shades in grammages between 90 g/m” and 300 g/m”. The matt surface gives printed material a natural feel but also provides excellent printing results and high-class image reproduction making it ideal for high-quality four-colour books.
