Report on Completion of Emergency Disaster Countermeasures for the Tohoku-Chiho Taiheiyo-Oki Earthquake – From March 11 through 31, 2011-

Friday 01. April 2011 - Komori Corporation established the Disaster Countermeasures Office (headed by Mr. Yoshiharu Komori, CEO) at the Tokyo Head Office just after the Tohoku-Chiho Taiheiyo-Oki Earthquake on March 11, to inspect the conditions of our customers and repair damaged equipment.

We would like to report on the disaster countermeasures activities taken by Komori.
After establishing the Disaster Countermeasures Office, Komori urgently organized the Disaster Countermeasures Team and it started gathering information in the disaster area first. Then, the team proceeded with recovery work one by one for equipment at our customers for which the extent of the damage was defined.
Within a week after the earthquake, Komori gained the whole picture about damage in the disaster area, and the service team had a clear target for completing recovery work in Kanto area.
In the early stage of the disaster, traffic to the area was restricted and the Komori service team could not go into Miyagi and Iwate Prefectures to perform recovery work. To improve the situation, the Chairman of the Miyagi Printing Industry Association asked the Miyagi Prefectual Governor for “Emergency Traffic Passes for Printing Machinery, Material Supply and Related Trading Companies.” With this, Komori received 20 “Emergency Traffic Passes” from Police.
With this, the Disaster Countermeasures Office deployed the Disaster Countermeasures Team with 20 vehicles with “Emergency Traffic Passes” and over 60 engineers from the base in Yamagata Prefecture. Combined with Komori Machinery engineers, 26 vehicles and over 80 engineers started recovery work on March 22. By March 31, the Team completed recovery work which needed heavy lifting engineers. All repaired equipment is working normally now.
