EFI floor graphic helps get Olympic Ambassadors on track

Thursday 31. March 2011 - A floor graphic measuring 7 x 20m has been among the Olympian sights at an event naming 27 legends of British sport as Ambassadors for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Yesterday’s (March 28th) event gathered together 17 of the British Olympic Association’s 27 new Ambassadors for the announcement and photo-call at the Tate Modern in London, including Olympic gold medallists Sally Gunnell, Dame Mary Peters, Dame Kelly Holmes, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
The floor graphic was printed on a UV-curable 5m roll-to-roll EFI VUTEk GS5000r wide-format printer – the only unit of its kind in the south-east – at short notice. The colours had to match the British Olympic Association’s branding precisely.
The Ambassadors walked across the graphic, which was installed on the Millennium Bridge, which leads to the gallery. The project hit a challenge as the bridge could only be closed to the public for a few minutes, meaning the graphic had to be unfurled and situated very quickly, says EFI.
“The Ambassadors will play a vital role at the heart of Team GB, inspiring the athletes, coaches, their families and everyone involved in Team GB’s quest to make the nation proud with our performances at London 2012,” comments Andy Hunt, Team GB 2012 chef de mission.
