Dainippon Screen Releases Entry-Level Thermal CtP Models for Emerging Countries

The Media and Precision Technology Company (President: Kyohei Fujisawa) of Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan) has developed the next-generation PlateRite 8600M series of entry- level thermal CtP*1 models. International sales will begin in April 2011, starting from emerging countries.
In 2010, the sales of A4 size 8-page CtP models in emerging countries exceeded 60 percent of the total CtP sales,*2 led by China and India. The printing companies in these markets where the business has extremely grown requires introduction of CtP systems for inhouse platemaking. With these worldwide trends, printing companies positioned in the volume market, which have been outsourcing prepress, are now asking for new types of entry-level CtP systems. The PlateRite 8600M series provides outstanding cost performance, easy equipment installation and easy operation, as well as high-quality printing plate output.
The newly released PlateRite 8600M series inherits the outstanding technology and performance in a compact body unique to the PlateRite series, which holds the top share*2 of the international thermal CtP equipment market. The PlateRite 8600M lineup includes the S and E models, each one meeting different productivity requirements. Both types provide extremely simple operation with immediate production of printing plates. Also these models are able to improve quality thanks to its direct imaging and furthermore, by facilitating inhouse plate making, it contributes to achieving cost reductions and shorter turnarounds.
With the release of the PlateRite 8600M series, Screen intends to strengthen its existing PlateRite series lineup while meeting the digitalization needs of companies in emerging countries and further expand its market share.

*1 CtP (Computer to Plate) CtP equipment uses laser light to image digital data directly onto printing plates. This type of system is quickly becoming widely used around the world and is already the standard method of platemaking in many industrial- ized countries.
