Enabling performance, aesthetics, and compliance in architectural paints

Tuesday 22. March 2011 - Eastman Chemical Company will introduce its latest product offering in the architectural paints market - Eastman Optifilm additive OT1200 - at the European Coatings Show (Nürnberg, Germany; March 29-31, 2011), Hall 9, booth 305. OT1200 additive allows formulators to significantly reduce VOC content in water-based trim and wall paints by replacing volatile glycols while improving open time and wet edge, without negatively affecting other paint properties.

It also performs well over a range of application conditions. The additive helps meet a global need of architectural paint formulators to develop compliant solutions that meet regulatory standards without compromising performance.
“There is a strong market need for improved open time in North America and Europe as paints are increasingly moving towards lower VOCs,” says Jennifer Cogar, Growth Platform Leader, Eastman Chemical Company. “With Eastman Optifilm additive OT1200, formulators can provide their customers with paints that have improved application properties and aesthetics while meeting stringent environmental regulations.”
For more than 40 years, Eastman has provided a premium portfolio of coalescents and additives to the coatings industry. The Optifilm family of products provides coatings formulators with solutions to the increasingly stringent regulatory requirements while continuing to satisfy consumer needs.
