Florida Saves Money and Improves Government Efficiency with New Debit Card Program from ACS, A Xerox Company

Friday 11. March 2011 - The State of Florida is projected to save more than $6 million each year, reduce paper and provide added convenience and security by distributing unemployment compensation benefits on a reloadable debit card, a solution from Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS), A Xerox Company (NYSE: XRX).

People who receive benefit payments on a debit card will have access to their funds up to four days sooner than with paper checks and won’t have to worry about fees at check-cashing services. The Visa-branded debit card can be used free of charge at thousands of retailers and ATMs across Florida.
Cardholders benefit from ACS’ around-the-clock customer service and the convenience of getting a phone call or email when funds are deposited into their accounts or when their balances reach a pre-set amount.
“We’re able to help the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation put the right program in place so it can better focus on its core mission of efficient, accurate service,” said Joseph Doherty, executive vice president and chief operating officer, ACS Government Solutions. “As states are looking for creative solutions to their budget challenges, using a debit card to distribute payments and benefits is a valuable tool that brings immediate results.”
ACS is a leader in electronic payment card solutions, managing 28 programs for state and federal government clients, helping them speed funds to program recipients and saving millions of dollars.
