CPI supports World Book Night

Monday 07. March 2011 - CPI has joined with publishers, book fans and others from the publishing supply chain in an initiative to give away one million books on one night.

CPI is a key sponsor of World Book Night (tomorrow, Saturday 5th March), the event which is billed as the largest celebration of the printed word ever imagined.
The UK’s leading book manufacturer has sponsored the event, including the printing of a range of promotional materials to encourage over 20,000 members of the public to get involved as ‘givers’.
Fulmar Colour, part of the group’s commercial division, has printed 500,000 A5 leaflets and 8,000 A2 posters free of charge, as well as printing 250,000 stickers for the chosen books.
Mike Williams, CPI CFO, said: “World Book Night is a ground-breaking initiative which brings together readers, publishers and manufacturers to promote and celebrate reading. At CPI we continue to position ourselves closer to our customers and to end users, so we are very happy to share our passion for great books by sponsoring World Book Night.”
One million books will be given away tomorrow night, by 20,000 passionate readers who have each received 48 copies of their chosen book from the 25 titles carefully chosen by the organising committee. The event begins tonight with a public reading in Trafalgar Square which is expected to attract more than 10,000 people.
